Where this panel came from

The seller’s front page runs no Supplement Facts panel. The table above is read off the printed label artwork that ships with the product, which is the same artwork on the bottle you receive. If the bottle in your hand and this page ever disagree, the bottle governs and this desk wants to hear about it at [email protected].

How to read it

Reading the DigestFlow panel: what the brackets do

Three of the five rows mean less than the number in front of them. Here is how much less.

RowWhat the label printsWhat that works out to
Green coffee bean extract130 mg at 50% chlorogenic acidsabout 65 mg of chlorogenic acids
Raspberry ketone130 mg, no standardisation printed130 mg of the compound itself
Garcinia extract130 mg at 50% HCAabout 65 mg of hydroxycitric acid
Caffeine anhydrous138 mg, unstandardised138 mg of caffeine, plus a little more from the green tea row
Green tea extract130 mg at 45% EGCGabout 58 mg of EGCG and roughly 98 mg of total polyphenols

Arithmetic on the label’s own standardisation percentages, and nothing else. No figure in the right-hand column is an estimate of something the label left open.

A supplement panel prints the weight of the material in the capsule, not the weight of the compound that material is famous for. The bracket after the plant name is what connects the two, and reading it is the difference between knowing what you are taking and guessing.

Three rows here carry that bracket. Green coffee bean extract is standardised to 50 per cent chlorogenic acids, garcinia to 50 per cent hydroxycitric acid, and green tea to 45 per cent EGCG within 98 per cent total polyphenols. Multiply the printed weight by the percentage and you have the figure that matters.

Those three converted figures are the ones worth carrying, because they are what the published work is measured in. Roughly 65 mg of chlorogenic acids against the colonic literature on that compound and the 500 mg a day used in the pooled body-weight trials; about 65 mg of hydroxycitric acid against the gram quantities in the pooled Garcinia trials; and about 58 mg of EGCG against the 140 mg a day where the United States Pharmacopeia review found the liver case reports begin.

Two rows have no bracket because none is needed. Caffeine anhydrous is caffeine. Raspberry ketone is sold as the isolated compound. In both cases the printed weight is the compound weight.

Transcribed from the artwork. The Utah mailing address the label prints beneath the distributor line is the manufacturer’s, not this desk’s returns route; returns go to the New York address in the footer of this page.

Two lines there are worth a second look. “Contains Caffeine” sits on its own beneath the other-ingredients line, and it is the single most consequential piece of type on the pack for anyone deciding whether this product suits them.

And the caution line is doing more work than its length suggests: it excludes anyone under 18, anyone pregnant or nursing, and asks anyone on a medication or with a diagnosed condition to raise it first. Who it is for takes each of those in turn.

Honest label analysis

What the DigestFlow panel does not tell you

Five things a panel of this kind cannot tell you, whoever printed it.

  • The extract ratio behind each plant row. A 130 mg extract standardised to 50 per cent tells you the compound weight, not how much raw material it started as.
  • Which part of the coffee bean processing was used, beyond the word seed.
  • Any Daily Value, because none has been established for these five compounds. The double asterisk beside every row is the label saying so correctly.
  • A total polyphenol figure for the capsule as a whole, only for the green tea row.
  • The capsule’s own trial record, because there is none. Nobody has run this combination at these amounts against a digestive outcome.

None of those five is a failing peculiar to this label. The first four are normal for the category and the fifth is normal for almost every finished supplement on sale. They are listed because a page that reproduces a panel and stops has implied the panel answers more than it does.

Questions

DigestFlow panel questions

Is the DigestFlow panel published on the seller's own page?

No. The seller’s front page names what the product is sold to support and leaves the composition to the bottle. This desk reproduces the printed label artwork above so the two can be compared.

How much caffeine is in one DigestFlow capsule?

138 mg of caffeine anhydrous, plus the small amount inside the green tea extract, which is standardised to under 3 per cent caffeine. Call it roughly 142 mg in total, or about a strong mug of brewed coffee.

What does the double asterisk mean?

That no Daily Value has been established for that row. It is the correct notation and it applies to all five actives here, because none of them is a vitamin or a mineral with a recommended intake.

Is there a Daily Value for caffeine?

No, and the panel is right not to print one. The reference figures people quote come from safety assessments rather than from any nutritional requirement: the FDA cites 400 mg a day for healthy adults and EFSA adds that single doses up to 200 mg raise no safety concern.

Is the DigestFlow capsule shell vegetarian?

The other-ingredients line reads hypromellose, which is made from plant cellulose rather than animal collagen. Anyone with a strict diet should still read the bottle that arrives.
